Christians of the Arabian Peninsula (Part 1)
Home to seven countries the Arabian Peninsula has millions of non-native workers hailing from over 100 countries. In the UAE alone 85% of an almost 9 million population are non-citizens. As a consequence Christianity is experiencing one of its highest growth rates in the Arabian peninsula. The total Catholic population is anticipated to swell to 3 million faithful with a mere 20 churches serving the whole territory. Thanks to a significant and generous gift from the King of Bahrain, the Vicariate is taking on the challenge of building a cathedral dedicated to Our Lady of Arabia, Patroness of the entire Peninsula. A beacon of hope for all Christians in this important region of the world.
