Our Place in the World: The Stories of Maps

Humans have always sought to answer the basic question: where is our place in the world? In tracing the stories of maps from Mesopotamia, Ptolemy, and Mercator to cholera, subways and GPS, this presentation explores four basic insights: Every map has a purpose. Every map tells a story. Every map tells a lie. And each changes over time.
