Just minutes before being rescued, family dog 'DJ' was swept away in Tuesday's floodwaters at Woodburn.

Feared lost, but now, incredibly found.

The dramatic rescue was played-out live on Channel 7 as Mark O'Toole, his son, and elderly neighbour were plucked from their roof near the Richmond River flood waters.

Thanks to the courage of their rescuer, they were winched up to the safety of a Defence Force helicopter. But, there were concerns for the family dog who jumped into the raging currents.
