The Australian Retailers Association is calling on the federal government to endorse a six-point plan that it says will help ameliorate the Omicron-induced “crisis” facing small business.
The plan, which includes the government underwriting the costs of Rapid Antigen Tests, is designed to help businesses cope with a lack of staff and decreased consumer confidence.
The Australian Retailers Association’s Paul Zahra told Sky News Omicron has “destroyed” the prospect of a quick economic recovery in 2022.
“Shopping centers empty, CBDs completely desolate and we are seeing small businesses being hit particularly hard,” he said.
